So often, educational options for older students who are non-academic are extremely limited – or non-existent. Like the WLEP program, the Woodview Alternative Skills Program (WASP) is new to the Woodview Learning Centre for the 2018/2019 school year. The WASP program has been created to accommodate youth who are 4-17 years old. This program mirrors the essential life skills programs often found in Ontario Secondary Schools. However, due to the abilities we have at the Woodview Learning Centre we are able to expand far beyond the limitations of other situations and learning environments. With the focus on the skills necessary for moderate independence, a contribution to society, core skills, executive functioning, and also enjoyment of learning; this new program offers exciting new possibilities for students. The students work within a small group where the ratio is typically 4 students with 1 Instructor.
